Job Summary:
Locations may include: Orthopedic & Specialty Clinic, Rapid City Clinics and Urgent Cares. Performs imaging examinations for both ambulatory or acute care environments. The Technologist is responsible for exam room presentation, patient transportation, entering exams into the Radiology Information System, scheduling radiology exams, educating patients on exam prep instructions, obtaining correct orders and paperwork for records, billing, and communicating with Medical Staff as requested. The Technologist may share on call duties and may be responsible for evenings, weekends, and holidays as directed by the department leader.
Essential Functions:
- Documents appropriate information in patients’ charts.
- Ensures the procedure and related supplies are billed correctly.
- Delivers high-quality images to Radiologists.
- Competently works within required computer programs (i.e., PACs, RIS, Vrad) as well as manual downtime processes.
- Prepares and administers the correct amount of contrast, using aseptic techniques as outlined in the Infection Control manual.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge to operate all radiological equipment, patient positioning, principles of radiation exposure/safety, and quality control.
- Works as a team with other imaging departments to coordinate patient care and flow throughout the care environment.
- Provides a learning environment for students completing their clinical rotation.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Focuses on patient satisfaction by scheduling appointments promptly and courteously.
- Participates in upkeep of department, including cleanliness of work area and reporting malfunctioning equipment.
- Routinely prepares the patient and equipment for upcoming procedures, providing professional age-specific interaction.
- All other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
Required:
- Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent: General Studies
- Graduate - Accredited Radiography Technologist Program
- ASRT Certificate - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification - American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred:
- ARRT Advanced CT Registry
- ARRT Advanced Mammography Certification
